HARMONY OF THE SEAS

RECEIVED HER NAME!

By Nadia Jastrjembskaia, Ph.D., CLIA certified Elite Cruise Counselor

Do you know that Harmony of the Seas received her name officially just last Thursday, November 10, 2016?

Yes, this is true. Harmony of the Seas made her first sailing in May 2016 and spent the whole summer in Europe to come to Florida to be officially named.

The naming ceremony took place while ship was on her way to Nassau, Bahamas. It was a spectacular sunset event in the AquaTheaer in the presence of all company executives, mass media, VIPs and travel agents. Personally, I was not able to attend but a team member of my company was there.

Godmother of Harmony of the Seas was Brittany Affolter, 23-year old teacher educator from Miami. She was selected after on-month long search conducted by Royal Caribbean International (RCI.) Organization, Teach for America, she works for also received $25,000 donation from RCI.

“We decided to use technology as an important part of the process,” Royal Caribbean chairman Richard Fain said before the naming ceremony began.

Latin artist Jon Secada, who once performed on Royal ships, sang the national anthem.

Fain and Affolter were stationed at the stage at Aqua Theater. Aerial performer descended from above on guide wires and delivered the trigger button to them. This button activated one of the robots in the Bionic Bar. It did a little spin move and then punched its own button. After that the bottle, a “Sovereign” size made specially by Veuve Cliquot for Royal was released. Bottle whizzed down the ship’s zipline and smashed into a steel name plate above the pool deck.

It was very interesting moment to watch.

During ceremony, many artists participated, both a priest and a rabbi blessed the ship, before a band of bagpipers made their way through the crowd.

The ceremony continued into the next day with an hour long marching band greeting the ship in the Bahamas.

At sunset, Joe Jonas and his band DNCE performed at the AquaTheater. Then at midnight a large parade went through the Royal Promenade capped by a night of dancing “in the streets”.

Harmony of the Seas is a 5,497-passenger ship will sail year-round from the Fort Lauderdale port for Western and Eastern even-night Caribbean itineraries.

I will create a photo tour in my next blog form Harmony of the Seas.

All sister ships lined up for photo

My clients who sailed on Harmony of the Seas, Allure of the Seas, and Oasis of the Seas experienced historic moment: all three ships lined up on November 4, 2016 for photograph you see above.

Royal Caribbean International introduced the first ship, Oasis of the Seas in 2009 (yes, I was on naming ceremony 7 years ago!) Allure of the Seas joined fleet in 2010 (I was there also.) This project became so successful that RCI plan to build two more ships in this class.

If you don’t have any plans for Christmas yet and want to experience 8-nights Caribbean cruise. – I have a deal for you to share.

One of the new additions to RCI, Empress of the Seas, has a lot of unsold inventory. Nothing wrong with this ship! It was totally renovated and planned to cruise to Cuba. Itinerary was changed to other islands because ship doesn’t receive authorization to sail to Cuba yet.

So, you may enjoy reasonable price for Christmas with kids sail free promotion.

Call Donna or me at 772 335-7017 during business hours Monday through Friday from 10 am to   5 pm EST.

Keep in mind that I will be out of office starting on Friday, November 18, 2016 up to November 23, 2016 for cruising on Royal Clipper, Star Clippers Cruise Line.

I will do photo tour of this interesting ship later.
