SIX BEST APPS
FOR YOUR CRUISE
By Nadia Jastrjembskaia, Ph.D., CLIA certified Elite Cruise Counselor
A few weeks ago my clients were late for their cruise. Reason? Very simple: traffic! They arrived to pier in Port of Miami just 5 minutes after immigration clearance documents were signed. Authorities didn’t allow them to sail even ship was in port for about 40 minutes.
Bad. Too bad that they didn’t know that Waze app is exist to check traffic before they start driving. They were late due to bad traffic in Miami that is uncommon.
Thant is why I decided to let me audience know about six best apps from my point of view.
#1 Waze
This is the real-time traffic app will help you to avoid extremely stressful situation my clients experienced.
“Waze is the world’s largest community-based traffic and navigation app. Join other drivers in your area who share real-time traffic and road info, saving everyone time and gas money on their daily commute,” written on app’s website.
#2 Cruise Ship Mate
This is a free app for Apple iOS / Google Android give you details of your cruise itinerary, deck cams and port information.
“You can easily access your Itinerary, Excursions, Deck Maps and more. Select Roll Call to see who you’re sailing with and Chat to start making some ship mates. Count down the days with your Cruise Ticker and post it to Facebook to make friends and family jealous,” as written on app’s website.
I already signed for my upcoming cruise on Azamara Journey in Mediterranean and find ship mates to chart with.
This app offers price monitoring – general one without asking age, state of residency, military or other public service. This means that price monitoring is not accurate as we do in office.
#3 Myfitnesspal
For majority of cruisers dining experience is part of great vacation. Problem is that this comes with a price. I am not talking about paying for cruise but for additional inches on bellies. Do you know that average cruiser earns 4 lb.? That cruise ships returns back in average 8,818 lb. more due to guests’ weight?
Here is a solution: Myfitnesspal. Apple iOS / Google Android / free
#4 Fitbit
This is another app for step count and walk the desks. It is free, Apple iOS / Google Android.
#5 Star walk
This is paid app for $4.49 but it worth it if you travel with kids and wish to teach them about stars and constellations. Just open the app and point your iPhone or iPad at the sky. For Apple iOS.
#6 Disney cruise line navigator
This app is high rated by Disney cruise guests. You can find information about all activities, menu as well as stay in touch with family and friends.
Apple iOS / Google Play / free
